Goods exported from Malaysia enjoy lower preferential import duties offered by some importing countries.
Five groups of countries in the world offer such preferential tariff schemes for Malaysian products. The agreements are as follows:
1. ASEAN – India Free Trade Area Preferential Tariff (AI)
2. The Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Partnership Among Member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and Japan (AJCEP Agreement)
3. ASEAN Common Effective Preferential Tariff (CEPT)
4. ASEAN – China Free Trade Area Preferential Tariff (E)
5. Malaysia – Pakistan Closer Economic Partnership Agreement (MPCEPA)
Under the GSP, Malaysia is a beneficiary of the schemes offered by the following industrialized countries:
Under the ASEAN – India Free Trade Area (AI), Malaysia is a beneficiary of the preferential schemes offered by India to promote trade between the countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and India.
The AJCEP Agreement aims to promote trade between the ASEAN countries and Japan through preferential tariff treatments on goods eligible for concession as stipulated in the Agreement. Malaysia is a beneficiary of this preferential schemes offered by Japan.
Under the CEPT, Malaysia is a beneficiary under the scheme established by countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to promote intra-ASEAN trade. Under the scheme, an agreed effective tariff, preferential to ASEAN, is applied to goods originating from ASEAN member states and which have been identified for inclusion in the CEPT Scheme. The ASEAN member states are Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Brunei, Singapore, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.
In efforts to promote trade activities between the ASEAN countries and China, the ASEAN – China Free Trade Area was formed. Effective in year 2010, Malaysia is a beneficiary of the preferential schemes offered by China.
Malaysia is also a beneficiary of the Malaysia – Pakistan Closer Economic Partnership Agreement which entitles preferential tariff for imports of eligible Malaysian goods into Pakistan.
Buyers who wish to enjoy the preferential tariff offered by their respective countries for toners imported from Jaditoner may request Jaditoner to include the required Certificate of Origin for the Form AI, Form AJ, the Certificate of Origin for CEPT (Form D), Form E or Form MPCEPA among the shipping documents.
